Diwali, the ‘festival of lights’, can also be called ‘the festival of flavors’! Yes, that’s right! In India, festival means wearing new clothes, visiting various places, decorating the whole house, having fun with loved ones and relishing tons of food items!

What can we make for Diwali?

Here are some traditional snacks that are especially made in Diwali.

Chivda: Chivda is a delicious ‘snack mix’ made with flattened rice (poha), spices, dry fruit and nuts, plus hints of salt and sugar. The result is a crunchy, crispy treat with a delightful combination of salty and sweet flavors. Chivda can be made by pan roasting or deep frying.

Shankarpale:An ubiquitous festive snack in Maharashtra, shankarpale are diamond shaped sweet cookies dusted with powdered sugar. Totally yum, this is one snack loved by kids and adults alike!

Sev: Sev also called as besansev is made from soft dough of Besan(gram flour), oil and spices. The dough is then transfer to sev press and pressed to form thin strands of sev which are then deep fried.


Ladoo:Besan Ladoo is one of the most popular Indian sweets.Made with gram flour, sugar and ghee, this dessert requires only a handful of ingredients but tastes amazing!
